BERLIN: The Qatari-German joint committee held its fourth meeting Wednesday in Berlin with the Qatari side chaired by HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al-Thani and the German side headed by Matthias Machnig, state secretary at the federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

The two-day meeting discusses a number of issues, including renewable energy and energy competency, the role of small- and medium-sized enterprises in reviving economy, business and investment opportunities in Germany, and German international cooperation activities in Qatar.

The meeting aims to enhance economic and commercial ties between the two countries, working on boosting Qatar's exports to the German market by stimulating commerce chambers in both countries and the private sector and benefiting from signed agreements in this regard, and creating new investment opportunities between them.

Qatar and Germany have a number of commercial agreements and memoranda of understanding and the volume of trade exchange between the two countries was QR 7.5 billion in 2013. (QNA)
