The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) yesterday unveiled their new logo at a special ceremony attended by the country's top riders and officials at the state-of-the-art Losail International Circuit (LIC).
QMMF President Abdulrahman Al Mannai was joined by Khalid Al Remaihi, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Losail Circuit Sports Club (LCSC).
Qatar's top riders Meshal Al Naimi, Saeed Al Sulaiti and Nasser Al Malki were also present at the ceremony held inside the VIP enclosure of LIC.
"This is a special occasion for us as we unveil our new logo," Al Mannai said at the ceremony. "As you can see that the new logo also presents a look of our national flag. You will also notice that the shape of the word 'Q' is about speed," he said.
"We are making a fresh start. We feel this is a significant achievement since we have been targetting the youth of the country. We want to encourage or enhance the culture of motor sports in Qatar," he said.
"We have many new objectives to meet at QMMF. Number one, we want to promote motor sports in partnership with our stakeholders," he said. said.
"We want to engage the local community into the circuit. LCSC opens the circuit every Wednesday for walking, running and cycling sessions. We have seen that this has become a major success with sports fans here," he said.
"Also, we are becoming a commercial model that is a sustainable one. LCSC have introduced new activities that are being held all year around," he said.
"Our plans are huge. We are looking to develop the sport. We want to compete with other countries in the region and the world," he said.
The QMMF President said he will be working to see top Qatari riders 'competing at the highest level' in the future.
"There is no doubt that there has been a huge success in Qatar in motor sports. At QMMF, we want to focus on our new ambition. This logo is part of our new endeavours. The new logo reflects the youth of the country. It shows the changes that have taken place in the field of technology in the sport," Al Mannai said.
