Expert medical teams and advanced facilities ensure a safe tournament experience across venues

Doha, Qatar: Drawing on its experience delivering medical services at world-class sporting events, the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 Local Organising Committee (LOC) has deployed comprehensive medical operations to ensure high-quality care for everyone involved in the tournament. This includes players, spectators and guests across stadiums, training grounds and team hotels.

These services are being delivered through a partnership between Aspetar, the globally recognised orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital and the Official Medical Partner of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, and Hamad Medical Corporation, the country’s national healthcare provider.

For Dr. Khalid Al Khulaifi, LOC Director of Medical, the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 has once again showcased Qatar’s ability to deliver a high standard of medical services at a major football tournament: “Medical services are a key operational area for the Arab Cup, making sure players are able to perform to their highest ability on the pitch, while ensuring that spectators, guests and participating team officials have the best standards of support available throughout the match. Like with every tournament, we are committed towards showcasing Qatar’s organisational excellence to ensure fans and players alike have an exceptional experience.”

Around 700 medical staff, including doctors, nurses and paramedics, are deployed across tournament venues, with operations comprising fully equipped ambulances and dedicated clinics. These facilities serve both fans, players and guests, and are fully equipped to deliver first aid, emergency response and coordinated hospital referrals when required.

Dr. Omar Alsayrafi, Venue Medical Manager at Al Bayt Stadium, said: “For a doctor, working in a stadium setting is truly something special. It's completely different from the routine hospital or clinic work we're used to. In a venue of this scale, medical services are part of a much larger system, and collaboration is essential to ensuring high-quality care and a successful tournament.”

Dr. Al Sayrafi added that preparation and coordination are central to the delivery of medical services, with detailed planning undertaken well in advance of the tournament. Medical teams operate under clearly defined roles, supported by robust communication channels and FIFA-compliant protocols governing on-field and off-field response procedures.

“The most important work happens before the tournament begins. By the time the first match kicks off, every clinic, every team member and every protocol must already be in place. During matches, our role is to coordinate, supervise and ensure that all medical services function exactly as planned,” said Dr. Nejib Benzarti, Venue Medical Manager at Al Bayt Stadium.

The delivery of medical services at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 reflects Qatar’s extensive experience in hosting major international sporting events and its continued investment in medical readiness, sports medicine expertise and integrated event operations.
