DOHA: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH), in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, will soon set up a “health call centre” to receive complaints or queries from the public about health care providers and services.
The round-the-clock call centre will be set up in three months, the SCH said yesterday.  Besides citizens and residents, the media will also benefit from the bilingual service, in English and Arabic.
“The  ‘health call centre’ will receive complaints and inquiries about services of the Hamad Medical Corporation, Primary Health Care Corporation and the private health care providers functioning under the SCH,” Ahmed Abdullah Al Khulaifi, Assistant Secretary General for Administrative Affairs at SCH said in a statement.
The SCH has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for establishing the call centre. The MoU was signed by Al Khulaifi and Hassan Jassim Al Sayed, Assistant Secretary General ICT government programmes at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Al Khulafit said the new service aims to strengthen communication with the public, the media and the various parties concerned through an “ integrated and effective electronic system”. This will promote coordination and communication with health care services providers and keep the public informed about the remarkable progress taking place in health sector in Qatar, he added.
The call centre will be available 24 hours throughout the week in three months from the date of the signing of MoU. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology will deploy a team of trained staff  to work with the call centre, said Al Sayed.
Besides receiving queries and complaints from the public, the call centre will raise health awareness among the public and keep them updated about the health care programmes in the country, he added.
The Ministry will provide the necessary technical support to the service. The call centre will respond to telephone calls, e-mails, fax messages, and news and reports appearing in print and electronic media as well as social media.
It will provide feedback to the SCH about performance of the health sector through complaints and remarks from the customers. Calls will be reordered to ensure that the customers get accurate information and they are handled properly.
