DOHA: In collaboration with the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), PartnerRe, a leading global reinsurer which provides multi-line reinsurance to insurance companies, welcomed for the first time students from the GCC region to attend a series of activities at MultaQa Qatar. The young people were selected to attend the event after winning a writing contest.
The theme of the essay competition, which was launched at select universities across the region, was: “The region’s future economic growth will be limited unless insurance penetration increases.” A panel of experts from the QFC and PartnerRe reviewed the submissions, and shortlisted graduates were invited to attend the MultaQa Qatar Connect session, the event’s Gala dinner and the Mena Leader’s Forum.
Yousuf Mohamed Al Jaida, CEO of QFC, said: “As a Qatari organisation, we are proud to be part of such a worthy initiative. As we celebrate MultaQa Qatar’s 10th edition, we must continue to look at ways to engage with the regional community, and the launch of this online essay competition for the very first time is further evidence of the untapped potential in the region.” “The QFC remains committed to encouraging bright graduates in Qatar and the region to pursue a career in the finance and business industries, to ensure our region sustains a long-term growth,” he added.
“As a reinsurer, PartnerRe is delighted to support young professionals in the region so that they can develop into the future leaders of our industry,” said Salvatore Orlando, Head of High Growth Markets at PartnerRe.
