Explosion rocks Jalalabad City

Kabul: A heavy explosion rocked Jalalabad City in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan early yesterday morning, injuring at least nine people, including Afghan security forces. 

The incident took place near Sherzai stadium targeting Afghan national police forces. Head of the central hospital for Jalalabad city, Dr Humayoon Zaheer confirming the report said all those injured during the explosion were taken to the hospital. 

He said at least three Afghan civilians and six Afghan police officers were injured during the incident. 

No group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

Cultural Day celebrated

Earthquake hits Islamabad  

Islamabad: An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale jolted Pakistan’s capital and adjacent areas. The Seismic Centre said the epicenter of the quake was in eastern Kashmir at the depth of 133km, Geo News reported. No report of human or material losses was received.

Violence claims four in Karachi  

Islamabad: At least four people were killed in acts of violence in Karachi, police said yesterday. Police recovered two bodies from Maripur Road, and another from Abal Chowk in Lyari while gunmen opened fire in Musa Lane area and critically injured two people.  An alleged dacoit was killed in an encounter with police in Gulshan Maiymar.
