DOHA: The Gulf information ministers have expressed solidarity with Qatar and have condemned media campaigns targeting it for hosting the coveted FIFA 2022 World Cup.
It is the vested interests that are running the media campaign against Qatar, the information ministers said at a meeting in Kuwait yesterday, QNA reported.
It is a matter of pride for all the GCC countries that Qatar is hosting the FIFA event in 2022. “The world will be thrilled to see how Qatar organises the 2022 event,” the ministers said. They called on the media of the GCC to launch a counter attack on the media campaign targeting Qatar.
The ministers made the remarks during their 22nd meeting under the chairmanship of Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al Humoud Al Sabah.
DUBAI: Dubai health authorities quarantined yesterday an air passenger who arrived from Liberia after he showed symptoms of Ebola, in the first suspected infection registered in the Gulf region.
The UAE health ministry said the man who travelled from Liberia through Morocco had been “isolated for checks after he suffered diarrhoea,” although his body temperature was normal.
