DOHA: A new sponsorship law the government is working on is expected to see the light of day this very year, says Qatar Chamber, representative body of the private sector. The business community has given its remarks on the draft sponsorship law, said Deputy Chairman of the Chamber, Mohamed bin Ahmed Tawar Al Kuwari.
Businessmen are of the view that the new law should protect the interest of both, the workers and their employers, he told local Arabic daily Al Arab.
Businessmen have held a number of meetings with different government bodies on the draft, the daily quoted him as saying yesterday. Businessmen believe that the existing sponsorship law is doing justice to workers as well as their employers. The government’s priority is to amend it with a view to improving the labour situation in the country.  “Businessmen have no objection provided the interests of both the parties are taken care of without any bias,” said Al Kuwari.  The Peninsula
