Doha, Qatar: Qatar Press Center is hosting an exhibition by photojournalist Karim Jaafar entitled “A Lens Story”.

The exhibition includes pictures embodying the steadfastness of the people of Palestine. The pictures will be auctioned and the revenues used in relief efforts for the people in Gaza.

The exhibition which opened yesterday at the headquarters of Qatar Press Center will run until October 22, from 8am to 1pm and 4pm to 9pm.

The opening ceremony was attended by President of the Qatar Press Center Saad Mohammed Al Rumaihi with a number of officials and guests.

Meanwhile, the Qatar Press Center has expressed its resentment on the heinous crimes that the Israeli occupation forces continue to commit against journalists and deliberately target them.

The journalists are carrying out their duties and covering the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, conveying the brutality of this aggression to international public opinion through their lenses, and exposing Israeli violations against civilians in Palestine on the border with Lebanon.

The center extended its sincere condolences to the families of the journalists and the journalistic community over the martyrdom and injuries of a number of journalists since the outbreak of the military attacks.

It said that the journalists were directly targeted while covering these attacks for more than one media outlet with the intention of assassinating them and preventing them from coverage.

The center also denounced the attack and detention of press correspondents at gunpoint by the Israeli police forces, which use all illegal means to prevent them from covering the massacres committed by these forces against civilians in Gaza.

The center stressed the need for urgent action by human rights organisations and concerned parties in the international community to put pressure on Israel and force it to stop its deliberate crimes against journalists.

It called for holding perpetrators accountable, and oblige them to respect international conventions and the right of the media to report the facts without distortion and with objectivity required by media professionalism and commitment to international law.
