Firm plans to invest $15m in wind energy

KARACHI: A major Pakistani firm, Fauji Fertiliser bin Qasim Ltd (FFBL), has decided to invest $15m in the biggest wind energy project in the country, to be called  Foundation Wind Energy. The company plans to invest $8.5m in Foundation Wind Energy-I for a period of two years and $6.5m in Foundation Wind Energy-II for a period of two years, sources said here yesterday.

Resolutions for the investment will be placed and approved at the extraordinary general meeting of the company scheduled to be held on November 25.

Appointments ban void

LAHORE: The ban on appointments and transfers in Pakistan’s Punjab and Sindh provinces has been rendered ineffective since the previous schedule for conducing local bodies’ elections has been cancelled, official sources said here yesterday.

As per the code of ethics issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan, government officials were barred from announcing development schemes or providing funds for projects in their constituencies.
