Doha: A number of sons of Palestinian martyrs and their escorts arrived last evening from Gaza Strip on a week-long visit at the invitation of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Member of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ahmed Al Zuwaidi said that the 61 visitors include 45 children and 16 escorts. He told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the visit of the delegation follows a gesture by the Emir when he visited the Gaza Strip recently. He added that the visit was also a culmination of the Emir’s initiatives towards the Palestinian people and the sons of martyrs in particular.
Al Zuwaidi said that the Emir’s generous sponsorship covered the provision of decent living as well as housing, hospitals, schools and compensations for the effects of war, adding the Emir sought to alleviate suffering of the Palestine people and took into consideration humanitarian and moral aspects.
He said the committee is responsible for reconstruction and humanitarian projects covering basic services that are not available due to the Israeli war on Gaza, adding that the committee is keen to provide what the children of Gaza have missed because of the blockade.
Member of the Palestinian delegation Khaled Abu Odeh expressed deep thanks, gratitude and appreciation to the Emir. The martyrs’ sons expressed gratitude for the generous gesture of the Emir and thanked the leadership saying that it was the first time they had left Gaza Strip.
