Doha: Australia aim to put their AFC U23 Championship campaign back on track against Vietnam today following an opening round loss against the United Arab Emirates in Group D.
The Olyroos slipped to a 1-0 defeat to the UAE on Thursday thanks to a late own goal by Giancarlo Gallifuoco at Grand Hamed Stadium.
And with Australia rounding off their group stage campaign against opening day winners Jordan on Wednesday, Australia must get their campaign up and running back at Grand Hamad Stadium. Australia face a Vietnam side comprehensively beaten by Jordan in their first game of the championship, with Toshiya Miura’s side falling to a 3-1 defeat.
The UAE, meanwhile, will take on Jordan with both teams knowing victory would put them on the verge of advancing to the next phase of the competition as they seek to take a step closer to qualifying for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro later this year.
Jordan coach Jamal Ahmad remains focused on his side’s goal  of  claiming  their first-ever  AFC  U23  Championship  title as the nation continues to build for the future  having  finished  third  at  the  AFC U-22  Championship  at  the  start  of  2014. The Peninsula
