Pakistan International School trains teachers to implement effective teaching and learning methods

An in-house training workshop was organised at the Pakistan International School recently and was designed to create a mass of teachers who can implement effective teaching and learning methods.   It was aimed at familiarising teachers to a general understanding of teaching methodologies to ensure quality education, to equip teachers with research based pedagogic and andragogic skills and enhance capacities of teachers to train learners for 21st century skills.

The training was expanded over three weeks. First Session was inaugurated by Vice-Principal (VP) Senior Girls Wing  Afshan Shahid. Session was started with a warming up Basic Terminologies related to the teaching to equip teachers with professional terms. VP, Girls Wing, Shahid, briefly explained the terms and made the session interactive through discussion and asking multiple questions.

Second lesson was delivered by Zia-ur-Rehman who highlighted the Role of Teacher in Building Student’s Character. A very informative lecture about Modern Trends of Educational Assessment was delivered by  Summayyah Hameed. 

An enlightening session on Teaching Methodologies was given by VP, Girls Wing, Shahid, to endow teachers with a knowledge of 21st century skills to enable them to apply these skills in everyday teaching. Another valuable lesson on Class Control was given by Rizwana Anjum where she described the techniques of effective class management with a positive impact on the behaviour of students. 

A detailed session on Qualities of Highly Effective Teachers was conducted by Aftab Alam Hashmi with a main focus on the constant need of nurturing values in our lives. The last lecture by Riffat Tahir focused on Motivational Skills. She truly gave a clear picture of a mandatory skills required to bring motivation in student’s life.
