DOHA: The convention of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) will begin in Doha tomorrow with participation of representatives from 51 countries.
To conclude on March 20, the convention is an indication of the great trust the ISF has in the organisational abilities of the Qatar School Sport Association (QSA) and Qatar.
The QSA, under the leadership of Rabea Al Kaabi, has completed its arrangements for the ISF convention to be hosted at Doha Marriot Hotel with attendance of 81 officials representing 51 countries in addition to the chairpersons of the Continental School Sport Federations.
The Qatari delegation will be chaired by the QSA Secretary General Ali Al Hitmi and will include the QSA Executive Director Abdulrahman Al Muftah and the QSA Assistant Secretary General Nasser Al Malki.
QSA Secretary General Ali Al Himi stressed that selecting Doha to host the event was due the trust the ISF officials have in the organisational abilities of the Qtari hosts.
Last year, he recalled, the ISF members elected the representative of the state of Qatar to be a member in the ISF Executive Committee during its election.
Al Hitmi said that the ISF officials got their positive impression about Qatar and its abilities during the 2009 Gymnasiade when the current ISF President Laurent Petrynka was a member of the ISF Executive Committee.
“Doha convention will be first meeting for the ISF members after the electing its new president and members a year ago” Al Hitmi added.
“The ISF Convention offers the opportunity to national associations to exchange, discuss and develop together the Vision 2030 by drafting the first strategic ideas for the future of the ISF with ISF members, experts and authorities,” said the QSA Secretary General.
Al Hitmi reaffirmed the importance of the Doha convention as it will lay the foundations for the ISF strategy during the upcoming years.
The convention will conclude on Saturday with a meeting for the ISF Executive Committee with attendance of Qatar’s Abdulrahman Al Muftah, the QSA Executive Committee.
Workshops and plenary sessions on various themes in relation to world school sport development are on the agenda. Some experts will take part in the task forces in order to bring external ideas along with the expert of the ISF.
Many members have already mentioned ideas and propositions to develop the ISF.
Thus the convention will be the moment for them to attend any of those workshops to share and examine their projects.
Each workshop will end up into five recommendations that will be approved by the Executive Committee in October 2015 and later on, will be adopted by the general assembly in July 2016.
Moreover, a report book, addressed to all national and international federations, will be published in order to convey recommendations regarding school sport.
