DOHA: Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has started a second admissions cycle for Translation and Interpreting Institute’s (TII) Master of Arts in Audiovisual Translation (MAAT).
TII is accepting online applications from those wishing to begin studies in MAAT in September.
July 9 is the last date for applications.
The two-year MAAT programme offers a varied curriculum, including introductory and advanced subtitling and dubbing, voice-over and media translation.
It also teaches subtitling for the hearing impaired, audio-description for the visually impaired, and the selection and adaptation of translation technologies to meet the needs of different language communities.
Applicants are required to submit university transcripts, English proficiency test reports, proof of proficiency in one of TII’s working languages (Arabic, French or Spanish), two references, a detailed résumé, and a copy of their passport.
Applicants are also required to complete a personal statement where they will have the opportunity to discuss their interest in the programme and how their personal and professional experiences and achievements have prepared them for successful postgraduate study in audiovisual translation.
Doha: Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has achieved 8.2m work hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI) since the beginning of the this year up to May, the corporation said in a statement yesterday.
The figure includes Kahramaa and its contractors.
The total Kahramaa’s work hours without LTI was 2,730,024 and total work hours without LTI from contractors was 5,502,993.
The achievement is a clear reflection of Kahramaa’s commitment to ensuring that safety remains a core value in all its operations and activities.
The achievement became a reality as a result of Kahramaa’s ongoing commitment to safety and security and through its stringent safety strategies, systems, processes and vigilant monitoring mechanism.
