PHCC attends awareness programme

DOHA: Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) participated in an ‘Awareness Initiatives’ programme launched by the Ministry of Municipalities and Urban Planning. 
The community participation, under the patronage of PHCC, has given attention to implementation of the national healthcare strategy through efforts of schools, religious institutions and companies, among others.
PHCC estimates and measures how participations positively affect the public health, working in partnership with local bodies in promoting health, appreciating and acknowledging its role in the community.
In light of the initiative, PHCC held awareness lectures for Umm Salal Municipality employees, presented by Modi Al Hajri, expert dietitian. 
The main theme was diabetes and its prevention. 
Modi provided advice regarding healthy eating follow-up for each patient and level of illness. 
He also spoke about physical activity, and commitment in taking medicine dispensed with daily check of sugar, controlling blood pressure and cholesterol. 
A team of PHCC provided the basic, yet vital body test and measurements to employees. 
Dr Ahmed Mustafa, family medicine specialist from West Bay Health Centre, presented a lecture to municipality staff. 
It included educational information about specific diseases and high blood pressure, to raise awareness among participants, highlight the important relation between a healthy nutrition and complications of the disease, and introduce therapeutic developments of chronic diseases.
Dr Mohammed Shaheen, family medicine specialist from Al Rayyan Health Center, also delivered a lecture, touching on educational information, awareness about infectious diseases and methods of prevention. 
The lectures aimed to raise awareness among low-income labourers and ended with taking measurements for high blood pressure and sugar. 
PHCC staff provided opinions on health matters.
PHCC expects changes in the population number, and patterns of diseases and development in the field of science and technology and general expectations. 
It has taken measurements to innovate and cooperate with other institutions. 
At the organisational level, it is introducing new care management methods, changing services provision ways in response to changing assessments and review. 
It has invested in sharing and developing experience, hoping to increase patient’s service capacity. 
The Peninsula
