Indian worker killed in basement collapse

Doha: An Indian construction worker reportedly died in Bin Mahmoud Area of the city early yesterday after suffering severe head injuries as a pile of cement blocks he was working near an excavated area of an upcoming basement for a building suddenly fell. 

Two other workers, an Indian and a Nepalese, suffered injuries and were rushed for emergency medical care. 

Reports of the Indian having died in a workplace accident were not confirmed by authorities but sources in the morgue at Hamad Medical Corporation said they received the body of an Indian with open skull early yesterday.

The sources also said that his name was Madan Lal. 

The colleagues of the deceased were not immediately available for comment. 

The Peninsula
