Doha, Qatar: The Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center concluded the activities of its 6th Summer Forum for the year 2026, held under the theme “By the Quran We Rise”.
The forum saw the participation of 120 non-Arabic speaking school students (boys and girls) from 15 nationalities. Spanning over ten days, the forum featured a variety of recreational and educational activities, along with field trips to prominent landmarks across the country.
The closing ceremony commenced at 10am in the presence of Sultan bin Saad Al-Badr, Assistant Director of the Center; and Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Rahim Al-Tahan, Head of the Islamic Culture Department, alongside the students and their parents.
A parallel ceremony was also held for female students, attended by 60 girls and the organising team responsible for the diverse activities tailored for them.
Held in the lecture hall, the ceremony began with a welcoming address by the master of ceremonies, Ali Al-Jassim, followed by a Quranic recitation by student Abdul-Karim Abdul-Karim. Dr. Al-Tahan then delivered a speech highlighting the forum’s goals and achievements.
He emphasised the summer forum’s crucial role in raising awareness, educating, and supporting the programmes and policies of both the Ministry and the State by spreading community awareness among various demographics.
This was followed by the students’ speech, delivered by Ibrahim Anabtawi—an American citizen—who renewed the students’ appreciation to the Ministry and the Center for the excellent organisation and the rich diversity of experiences, activities, and segments.
A representative of the parents also spoke, highlighting the positive experiences gained by their children during the programme and praising the activities and field trips.
Afterward, a documentary titled “Forum Harvest” was screened, showcasing the highlights, tours, and activities conducted throughout the programme.
The video captured the students’ active engagement and reflected the diversity of the programme, which ranged from Quranic recitation correction and exegesis (Tafseer) of Surahs such as Al-Fatihah, short Surahs, Yaseen, Al-Kahf, and Al-Mulk, to field trips to the Museum of Islamic Art, the Olympic Museum, and Al Rayyan Sports Club.
Following the film screening, supervisors, outstanding students, and volunteers were honoured.
It is worth noting that the final two days of the forum included a visit to the Al Wajba Health Center, where students attended an awareness lecture on the dangers of smoking.
Additionally, an educational lecture was held at the Center’s headquarters in cooperation with the Community Police, where an official addressed the students on the dangers of negative behaviours and their impact on both their personal futures and society at large.
