Doha: Vice-President of the Supreme Education Council H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani yesterday inaugurated the new library building of Qatar University which was built according to the latest international specifications and standards in the field of library buildings.
The library new premises, opened in the spring of 2011, reflects the development the university is witnessing at various levels and confirms the university’s commitment to enhancing the status of the State of Qatar as a beacon of science and knowledge in the region.
Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani was accompanied by the President of Qatar University Dr Sheikha Abdullah Al Missned, University’s Vice-President, a number of deans and heads of departments and staff working in the sector libraries from various academic and non-academic institutions, such as Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), College of North Atlantic, the Community College of Qatar and the Museum of Islamic Art.
The new facility is designed to the highest modern standards of function, design and eco-sustainability, and enhance the traditional aesthetics of the campus architecture. The five-storey building has reception on the ground floor, first floor for female students, second floor for male students, and third floor for administrative offices and various library resources and equipment.
