DOHA: More than 5,000 labourers from different communities attended a cultural show featuring noted expatriate singers, at Al Khor Sports Club on the first day of Eid Al Adha.
The four-hour ‘Eid Ka Chand’ (Eid Moon) was organised by the Community Policing Section of the North Security Department and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior in association with Sameeksha, the cultural wing of Qatar Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC).
The audience was treated to songs in Malayalam, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Punjabi and Tamil languages along with cinematic and traditional dances.
In his inaugural address, Community Policing Section Officer from North Security Department Lt. Shaheen Rashid Al Atheeque Al Dosari conveyed Eid greetings to audience and thanked them for their participation in the event.
“This is a gift from the ministry and Qatar police for you who contribute to the development of Qatar and I wish you all success. We have organised this programme to make you feel happy and enjoy Eid Al Adha.”
He also thanked KMCC, ‘Sameeksha’ and the Non Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) for their interest in associating with the ministry to organise the event successfully.
Doha-based singers Saleem Pavaratti, Noushad, Arya Krishnan, Nithin, Gayatri, Abhishek, Muhammed Eisa (Ali International) and Faisal Nallalam presented songs in Malayalam, Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Punjabi and Tamil.
Artists from Sariga musical troupe in Doha Harib Hussain, Afsal Kollam and Fida Fathima enthralled the audience with hit numbers. Nepalese dances presented by the Sandhya group of NRNA were another attraction of the show.
Coordinator of Community Reach Out Office at the Public Relations Department of the ministry Faisal Al Hudawi, Media Researcher at the ministry Niyaz Abdul Majeed, Qatar KMCC Vice President Abdul Wahhab, Sameeksha President Iqbal Chettuwa, officer bearers of Al Khor KMCC Committee Saidalavi, Abdul Kareem and Naseem Ansari and of NRNA Teknath Baral, Kishor Sunuwar and Binesh Tamang were also present at the opening ceremony.
