Doha: Qatargas has made a donation to Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) in support of its Syrian relief campaign, titled “Ghouta Appeals for Help.” The donation included funds raised at its 15th annual Golf Open, apart from an additional Qatargas contribution.

The donation was handed over by Public Relations Manager at Qatargas, Mansour Rashid Al Naimi, to Executive Director at RAF, Dr Mohammed Salah Ibrahim.

Ghouta is a green agricultural belt surrounding the city of Damascus in the south and east with a total population of 1.5 million. It is under siege by the government forces and the people are facing a severe humanitarian crisis. RAF campaign aims to deliver various kinds of aid including food, clothes and medicines to the affected people in Ghouta.

Commenting on Qatargas support to this cause, Al Naimi, said Qatargas was pleased to support RAF for their Syrian relief project that is aimed at delivering urgent humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. He said it’s a legacy for Qatargas to support communities around the world who need various kinds of assistance.

“I thank the Qatargas management and all those who have come forward to donate generously for this cause. Qatargas is glad to be able to support various activities of RAF Charity as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme that seeks to achieve social development of communities both within Qatar and abroad.”

Qatargas held its annual Golf Open this year at the Doha Golf Club which attracted many professional and amateur players and visitors. The second batch of proceeds from the two days’ charity sale at the tournament, plus an additional contribution from Qatargas, has gone to RAF.

Commenting on the support from Qatargas, Dr Mohammed Salah Ibrahim said: “We are thankful to Qatargas for their continuous interest in activities of Qatar Charity and its constant support for our different projects and initiatives. We value this support as a true model for the corporate world to follow and hope that more organisations would come forward to support us or rather enable us to support people around the world. Our commitment is to help create a better life for all hapless people around the world.” The Peninsula
