Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and beIN Media Group (beIN), the global sports, media, and entertainment group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday, outlining their joint cooperation to reinforce and promote the important role that sports and health plays in society.
The MoU between the MoPH and beIN is an extension of the ‘Healthy 2022 World Cup Creating a Legacy of Sport and Health’ project, which is being implemented by the Ministry, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the International Football Federation (FIFA), and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. The project, that also spans beyond the World Cup, aims for the tournament, and the legacy that it leaves, to be a beacon for reinforcing physical and mental health, and a model to ensure that future mega sport events are both healthy and safe.
Dr. Salih Ali Al Marri, Assistant Minister for Health Affairs of the MoPH, said, “We are pleased to sign this MoU with beIN, which comes with both parties’ recognition of the importance of integrating health in all policies. Improving the community’s health is a priority for the Ministry, depending not only on medical care, but several social, behavioural, economic, and environmental factors.”
