DOHA: Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) celebrated Qatar National Day at its headquarters with staff and member-companies yesterday.
Hamad Al Kuwari, Managing Director, along with a number of QSTP officials, inaugurated the traditional tent, which was set up to commemorate this festive occasion.
The tent features a number of authentic Qatari traditions, which some of the international communities operating inside QSTP were getting to know for the first time. The tent will continue to be there for all the companies operating within QSTP until tomorrow, so everyone can get a glimpse of the culture. The National Day celebrations come within QSTP’s internal communications strategy to enhance relations with its member-companies, ensuring their experience within QSTP is most rewarding on a business and social front.
“QSTP is a home for almost 46 international companies; we are quite a big community now. We need to use opportunities such as the National Day to bring everyone together. It integrates well with our role as facilitators to offer chances of the sort for our members to get together, enjoy their time, see some aspects of our culture, and network for business in the process,” says Hamad Al Kuwari, MD QSTP.
QSTP-member companies got to enjoy delicious Qatari bread, tasted some traditional Halwa (sweets), and sipped famous aromatic Arabic coffee. Others held a falcon for the first time in their life, while women decorated their hands with Henna in traditional design patterns, they also had their pictures taken in traditionally embroidered dresses.
“This is great. We are happy QSTP team has organized such an event for its member companies. Opportunities like this are very good for a healthy working environment and it does bring people from all backgrounds working inside QSTP to get to know each other. It is certainly an appreciated effort,” says Ghada P. El-Rassi, Deputy CEO, MEEZA.
Dr Samer Adham, Managing Director, ConocoPhillips Water Technology, said “It’s lovely to be able to participate in the National Day celebrations. The work done here is excellent, and we are happy QSTP has taken this initiative. It is also particularly good for all new comers to Qatar, who not only need to expand their network, but also want to understand more about the culture.”
