DOHA: Qtel has launched week-long social media contests on Qatar’s rich history and heritage, to join the festivities for Qatar National Day.
Until Thursday, Qtel will post one question every day on Facebook and Twitter and will randomly reward three Facebook fans and three Twitter followers who give the correct answer, .
One lucky winner will receive the grand prize of an iPad 3 tablet, while the grand prize will be an Apple MacBook Pro laptop on December 18. The second place prize will be a Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone and the third place prize is a BlackBerry Bold 9790.
Qtel has more than 184,000 fans on its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/QtelQatar and more than 27,000 followers on its Twitter account @QtelQatar.
Meanwhile, Qtel is offering 1878 free units for local minutes and SMS from today until Wednesday to all Hala and Shahry customers.
Shahry and Shahry Pack customers will automatically receive the free units that can be used either for calling minutes or SMS. One unit is equivalent to a one-minute local call or one standard 160 character local SMS.
Hala customers can take advantage of the offer by topping-up with QR50 and above from December 17 to 19. They can top up by a Hala scratch card, by direct top-up at any of the more than 200 Self Service Machines, or by eTop-Up at www.qtel.qa.
The 1878 units will be available for three days starting today until Wednesday midnight.
Qtel is also giving back to the community by decorating shops and offices, and is planning more exciting events for this important occasion. At the Landmark Mall starting December 14, Qtel hosts a stage featuring traditional shows and contests for children, and the “Zayinha” event in the mall’s parking lot where volunteers will decorate cars with Qtel accessories.
