DOHA: A marriage event company Al Rayyan will be maintaining and managing the first marriage halls complex built by the government that was inaugurated yesterday.
The complex with five halls of super-deluxe quality is on Al Rafa Street on the outskirts of Doha.
The halls will be allotted for free to Qatari youth who are getting married for the first time.
The complex was inaugurated by the Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
Several Ministers and senior officials were present.
After the opening ceremony, he toured the complex and checked amenities and security aspects.
The government plans to build two more such complexes in Al Wakra and Al Dhayeen, to be allotted for use for free to Qataris getting married for the first time.
The complexes will have five marriage halls each with all required amenities and will spread over an area of 7,500sqm,  Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported yesterday.
The private engineering office of the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning that built Al Rafa complex, will builds the other two complexes.
The marriage halls project is a state initiative to help Qatari youth get married.
Due to the high cost of marriage, much of which is on account of wedding venue rents that can go up to QR500,000, many youth delay their marriage plans.
The halls in Al Rafa complex can accommodate up to 2,500 people.
They are to be given for use for free to Qataris (brides and grooms) but a token fee of QR2,500 will collected as cleaning charges.
And a refundable deposit is to be made at the time of booking a hall. The deposit will be forfeited if the one who has booked it doesn’t turn up on the appointed day thus denying an opportunity to someone else.
