Montreal: Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, took part in the Conference of the States Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 15), which was concluded on Saturday in Montreal, Canada.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change participated in the working group sessions, communication sessions and plenary sessions of the conference, which kicked off on December 7, to enhance its constructive role in international fora, and stemming from its belief in the importance of cooperation and joint action to reach solutions that would preserve biodiversity in the world to ensure a bright and sustainable future for future generations.
The Convention on Biological Diversity, known informally as the Biodiversity Convention, is a multilateral treaty. The Convention has three main goals: the conservation of biological diversity; the sustainable use of its components; and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from genetic resources.
