DOHA: Some 111 Turkish companies are showcasing their products and services at the second edition of the Expo Turkey by Qatar, which was inaugurated yesterday by the Minister of Economy and Commerce, H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).
Also present at the inauguration were top business leaders from Qatar and Turkey, senior diplomats and dignitaries and top officials from private industry representatives from both sides, including the President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, M Rifat Hisarciklioglu.
The three-day exhibition coincides with the ongoing Qatar-Turkey Economic Forum, which kicked off on Tuesday in the presence of Qatar’s Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani and the visiting Turkish Customs and Trade Minister, Bulent Tufenkci, at Sheraton Grand Hotel-Doha.
During the inauguration of the exhibition, Sheikh Ahmed said that the Expo Turkey by Qatar is one of the most important regional events. He stressed that organising this event in Qatar for the second year in a row is a reflection of the fast growing cooperation and well-established relations between Qatar and Turkey.
The Minister noted that the exhibition also reflects the keenness of the two sides to put in place practical mechanisms to further develop the level of economic cooperation to increase the volume of trade exchange, and also to explore innovative and promising horisons to open up new fields that will enhance joint investments.
The Minister also noted that the expo, which has brought together many prominent Turkish industrial companies under one roof, will provide platform and help build bridges of communication between the private sector of Qatar and Turkey.
Sheikh Ahmed said that the event will contribute to enabling Qatari importers to contact with Turkish manufacturers to represent them in the local market.
“This joint cooperation will create special strategic economic partnerships in line with the existing market potential of more than 185 million people, which can further be expanded to reach over 400 million consumers in the region and beyond.
During the Expo Turkey by Qatar business leaders and representatives from government and private sectors from both the brotherly countries will hold discussions, bilateral meetings, including Business-to-Business (B2B) events to strengthen economic ties and form commercial partnerships.
