What our national priorities should be

We need good education that elevates the standards of Qatari students and equips them with skills, not just information and knowledge. The education system must be fair to teachers and give them the position they deserve in society. It must be in line with the economic aspirations of our country and the renaissance taking place in it.

We need progress with regard to medical equipment and the people who operate this equipment. We need hospitals that offer the best services. We need facilities that can offer all levels of healthcare locally and the government should stop sending citizens abroad for medical treatment.

We need a political renaissance accompanied by such harmony between the society and its leaders that it can counter attempts to disunite Qatari society. We need strong bonds between the people and the leadership in order to reach our goals.

We need Qatar’s youth to first focus on learning to be the best ambassadors—models of morals who can represent the country.

We need a purely Qatari sport that benefits from the facilities available here for the service of society in the hope of creating a healthy society that does its best to serve this country in all fields and proves that countries that are small geographically can be great by their actions.

We want a Qatari media that seeks to report facts, a media that takes a positive approach to its work and presents its criticism in a balanced way. We want a media that discusses the problems of the Qatari society free from personal whims and interests, a media that objectively discusses the problems of the Arab nation.

We want our government officials to offer encouragement to youth by giving them sufficient chances for promotion, progress and training.

We want our economy to be based on knowledge and inspire the youth to conduct scientific research, and give them the opportunity to be innovative in a practical way. We want officials who will encourage everything that can contribute to the nation’s economy.

We want businessmen who invest their money in Qatar with the aim of bringing about a renaissance in this country, free from greed or self-interest.

We want freedom of expression that stays within the limits of politeness, one that is based on respect for other people’s opinions and pays full attention to national interest.

We want Qatari traders to be given encouragement by being offered facilities that can help them make the right investments within the law.

We want to adhere closely to Qatari heritage and traditions and pass them on to future generations. We want to encourage tourism so that tourists can come here and see the urban development and renaissance of Qatar while paying competitive prices, even as we stay close to our customs and traditions.

We have grand hopes for Qatar and so does our leadership. These hopes, however, will never be fulfilled without unity between the society and its leadership, and without good intentions and hard work.
