Doha: Qatar Cancer Society’s (QCS) awareness and educational campaigns follow best international practices in implementing its activities, a research by Intelligence Qatar has said.
It revealed that QCS initiatives based on reliable global sources of non-governmental organizations concerned with cancer around the world.
Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Jabor Al Thani (pictured), Chairman of Qatar Cancer Society said, “The wise launch of community partnerships between all state institutions contributes directly to construction and development, especially in the health sector, one of the important pillars for comprehensive development in various fields.”
“These launched activities and awareness programs align with the Qatar National Vision 2030, which paid great attention to human health and the importance of investing in the human element,” he added.
The research showed that QCS had distinguished partnerships with various stakeholders, which praised the importance and effectiveness of its role and its quest to provide the best and latest in the field of cancer awareness and prevention, improving the lives of individuals living with cancer in Qatar, as well as building the capacities of health workers.
The research results also showed that QCS is an essential member of the national framework for cancer control, participated in the development of the national strategy to combat cancer. Its activities have also contributed to raising QCS’s awareness of cancer and ways to prevent it, raising the quality of life for people living with the disease and its survivors by providing them with financial, psychological, and societal support, and building the capacities of health workers in the field of cancer control and prevention.
During the research, twenty-four (24) individual interviews were conducted with officials from various government and private authorities concerned with the aim of verifying the role of QCS and the impact of its activities on Society, including the Ministry of Public Health - Qatar - the National Cancer Program, the Primary Health Care Corporation, Qatar Red Crescent Society, Qatar University, Weill Cornell University - Qatar, Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
