Premier appoints official at ministry

DOHA: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday issued a decision, appointing Engineer Fahd Mohammed Fahad Al Qahtani as Deputy Undersecretary for Urban Planning Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning. 
Al Qahtani served as director of Al Daayen Municipality. He also held several positions, including assistant director for technical affairs and head of municipal projects at Al Rayyan Municipality.
He received his Bachelor in Engineering from Qatar University (1999-2000) and participated in several conferences, symposiums, local and regional meetings and training courses.

Qatargas donates QR2m for Gaza

DOHA: As part of Qatar’s Solidarity Festival in support of the people of Gaza during the current humanitarian crisis, Qatargas Operating Company Limited has donated QR2m to help deliver humanitarian aid as an expression of the company’s solidarity with the victims of the crisis. Qatargas is working in coordination with Qatar Red Crescent and the Palestinian Ministry of Health to ensure that the aid is delivered to the suffering population in the most timely and efficient manner possible.  

Indian embassy to hold Open House

DOHA: The Indian embassy will hold an Open House on Friday, August 22, to address any urgent consular and labour problems of Indians.
The event will be held from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. Written information on issues/cases proposed to be discussed with officials may be given from 5.30pm to 6pm. This will be followed by meeting with officials from 6pm to 6.30pm.
Salient information would be sent to the media after the event, the embassy said in a statement yesterday.

Vodafone calling rates now lowest

DOHA: : Vodafone Prepaid customers can now enjoy local calls at the lowest rate in the country, at just 10Dh per minute. 
This great promotion covers not just calls to other Vodafone numbers, but calls to any number in Qatar. The promotional offer costs QR1 per week. To get the offer, Prepaid customers need to opt in by dialling *200*10#. The offer will be valid for seven days and will automatically recur at the end of each seven-day period. The promotion runs until Eid Al Adha, ending on October 11.
Vodafone Qatar said: “we’re very excited about this unbeatable offer which strongly underlines our commitment to continue to offer our Prepaid customers the best value possible in Qatar. We were the first to offer real and significant savings for customers on their local calling with the introduction of our permanent 25Dh/min offer last year. And now with this new promotion customers can save up to 80 percent  on standard local calling rate of 55Dh/min. As with any other offer from Vodafone Qatar, our customers will always feel confidently connected with worry-free and delightful experiences.”
When it comes to international calling, Vodafone Qatar has announced earlier two new great offers for Prepaid customers to enjoy the best international calling rates in Qatar as well. Vodafone’s International QR25, has been boosted to include 56 international minutes instead of 51 minutes. That means customers pay less than 45Dh per minute for international calls.
Furthermore, Vodafone’s weekly international packs now offer calling to 124 International countries for only 45Dh/min, reduced from 60Dh/min. That’s a saving of 55 percent off standard international rates. 
There is no change to the weekly cost, which remains at QR1 per week.
