DOHA: As risks, threats, and issues as well as solutions regarding internal state security have a huge impact on business and commercial activities, some of Qatar’s major players in the oil and gas and transport sectors have confirmed participation in one of the world’s most influential trade exhibition on internal state security – Milipol Qatar 2014.
Scheduled from October 20 to 22 at Doha Exhibition Center, the expo has achieved global reputation since its first edition in 1996 and established itself as the main platform for Qatar and the region for internal security requirements.
At every edition, some of the world’s leading manufacturers and service providers come together and presented latest innovations to security sector professionals from many regional and international countries.
With Qatar Rail and Woqod participating for the first time, along with Hemaya Security Services in the 10th biennial event, Brigadier Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani, President, 2014 Milipol Qatar Committee, urged more Qatar-based businesses from other economic sectors to participate and avail of the opportunity to play an active role in internal state security and get updated on latest internal security issues and concerns.
The event will also keep participants updated on the most advanced technology and solutions from an impressive and global line-up of experts and exhibitors.
“Keeping people and property protected and safe from any potential security risk or threat is no longer the sole concern and responsibility of the state,” said Brigadier Al Thani.
“Today’s rapidly evolving and fast-paced societies necessitate that every stakeholder must be vigilant and prepared for any potential security threat.
“They must be aware of risks involved and equipped with the most advanced solutions that minimise or prevent such risks, which may often result in injury or loss of life and damage to property.
“The importance of having more Qatar-based participants is not only for business opportunities it presents but also in sharing knowledge, information and expertise in internal security we can all learn from.”
Vital installations of a state, such as the mass transport sector, are acknowledged globally as a potential target of any internal security threat. Qatar Rail, as owner and manager of Qatar’s rail network and responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the  rail network and systems in the country, will highlight and share expertise in keeping the rail network safe and secure, in a presentation to importers of safety systems.
Qatar’s oil and gas resources being the largest contributor to its economy and responsible for the country’s per capita income which is highest in the world, Woqod’s participation signifies its commitment and intention of being involved in keeping Qatar’s most important resources and workers safe and secure at all times.
Hemaya Security Services will showcase locally-based skills, knowledge and expertise in offering internal security solutions. “The exhibition plays an important role in developing internal security infrastructure and in further creation of economic benefits in terms of capital resources diversification.
“Having been held in Qatar for two decades, the expo proves the stability the country enjoys and places it on the world map,” Brigadier Al Thani said.
