Doha: The Qatar U23 3x3 basketball team is gearing up to compete in the FIBA 3x3 U23 World Cup which tipped off in Xiongan, China, yesterday.
Led by Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, General Secretary of the Qatar Basketball Federation and Director of National Teams, the squad features four talented players: Mohammed Basheer, Mahmoud Darwish, Mubarak Jama, and Mustafa Ndao.
Competing in Group D, Qatar will face formidable opponents, including the United States, China, Latvia, and Fiji. The team’s campaign begins today, with matches against the United States and China, followed by games against Latvia and Fiji on September 20.
Under the tournament’s group stage format, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
Qatar earned their spot in the World Cup through an impressive performance in the 2025 FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League, securing a high ranking in the final standings.
