Zurich: Qatar has moved up three places to 105 in the latest edition of the monthly FIFA World Ranking released yesterday.
Qatar numbered 12 in Asia zonal rankings and 10 in Arab countries’ rankings.
Saudi Arabia went up eight places to 101, while Iraq was ranked 103.
Jordan was up three places to 70, followed by the UAE (71, up 11 slots). Oman ranked 92, up four places, and Kuwait maintained its ranking at 109.
Of the top 10, only Spain’s position remains unchanged, while Germany has pushed Argentina out of second place.
New entries into the top 10 are Switzerland (seven, up seven places) and England (10, up seven) due to their recent strong performances in the final group games in the World Cup qualifying. Italy paid heavily for its draw against Armenia, dropping four places to eight.
The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published after the completion of the World Cup qualifying on November 28.
