DOHA: The Doha-based Al Noor Holding Group which is planning to produce an epic film on Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) has disclosed that the movie will be in seven parts, instead of three, and would cost $1bn.
The company had earlier said the film will be made in three parts. The announcement was made yesterday on the occasion of the National Day at a press conference attended by prominent Islamic scholars involved in the project including Dr Yousuf Al Qaradawi.
The company said preparations for the film were progressing well. The most sophisticated technical and audio-visual systems will be used in the film. Issues related to enacting historic personalities have also been addressed.
The Prophet will not be directly presented in the film but many of his companions may appear.
Al Qaradawi said, after research and consultations with 30 prominent Islamic scholars, he was convinced that there is nothing wrong in presenting the senior companions of the Prophet in artistic creations. There is no text in the Holy Quran banning this, he added.
The film will be in English but there is a plan to translate it into many other languages.
