DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has opened an online nursery service whereby people can order decorative plants and saplings via email.

Details of the plants and saplings with pictures are available on the website of the ministry (www.baladiya.gov.qa).

Payment for the purchased plants can be made in cash or by credit card. The buyers can print the receipt after the transaction and send it to the Public Parks Department at the ministry to receive the plants.

The Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning, H E Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Khalifa, has inaugurated three new e-services for the public. The e-services include the said online nursery, an automatic-response hotline, and digital guidance screens.

The hotline service is available round the clock on 44266666 to provide municipal services such as attending to water logging, removal of water overflowing from drains, spraying pesticides and removing abandoned cars, Al Sharq reported yesterday.

The digital guidance screens will be set up at the headquarters of all municipalities and important buildings of the civic ministry. The screens will display Aljazeera broadcasts as well as live footage from the Doha Corniche. Weather reports, prayer timings, the latest news about the municipality and important instructions for visitors to municipality offices will also be displayed on the screens.
