DOHA: In recognition of National Day, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is hosting fun activities and events for patients, staff and the public.
The festivities across HMC hospitals and facilities celebrate Qatar’s culture, customs and traditions.
To share the joy of the celebrations with staff, patients and visitors, Dr Hanan Al Kuwari, HMC Managing Director, visited Hamad General Hospital (HGH), Women’s Hospital, Rumailah Hospital, Heart Hospital, National Center for Cancer Care and Research, Human Resources Department and Transportation Department.
She also visited HMC’s pavilion in Darb Al Saai and toured sections and interacted with visiting schoolchildren.
A traditional Qatari tent, featuring local artefacts, henna design and face painting will welcome patients and members of the public to HGH’s Outpatient Department.
The Help Desk at Women’s Hospital, at the main entrance, has been decorated and a screen showing historical clips on Qatar and National Day activities has been set up. Traditional food and drinks, as well as henna design, will also be available.
At Al Khor Hospital, Qatari flags have been installed at all information desks and are being distributed to patients and visitors.
Al Wakra Hospital has organised events for patients and visitors, including henna design, children’s face painting, balloons, giveaways and a performance by a local artist.
Rumailah Hospital’s main entrances, clinics and many inpatient units will be colourfully decorated. Patients and visitors will be treated to traditional hospitality with Qatari coffee, dates, chocolates and desserts.
Ardah, a Qatari traditional dance troupe, will entertain patients, visitors and staff.
Celebrations will include traditional Qatari games and contests and inpatients and their families will be treated to a free lunch buffet and a National Day-themed cake.
At Heart Hospital, a stall will serve Qatari food and drinks throughout the day.
A traditional social gathering hall will allow patients and visitors to sit and take photos commemorating the day.
The Cuban Hospital will hold a special function where Mohammed Aamer Al Marri, Assistant CEO, and Khalfan Al Noaimi, Principal, Dukhan Independent School for Boys, will deliver speeches. Other activities will include a poetry presentation from students of Dukhan Independent School.
The hospital will also host Qatari traditional dancers, recitations from Qatari poets, children’s entertainment, including a trampoline park and giveaways.
A health corner to educate patients and visitors on diabetes and hypertension and screen the conditions, has also been organised.
Staff of Ambulance Service will have a stand at Darb Al Saai until December 20. It will operate from 8am to noon and 4pm until 10pm, introducing preschoolers to paramedics, the ambulance unit and ambulance equipment.
HMC is also participating in celebrations at Darb El Saai.
HMC’s Hamad International Training Center’s Kulluna for Health and Safety, the Ambulance Service, Nutrition, Corporate Communications and Nursing Departments are taking part until Saturday.
Kulluna is promoting its Healthy Heart campaign and encouraging visitors to check their cholesterol levels and heart echo as well as for diabetes.
Kulluna is also creating awareness of the importance of using child car seats and educating families with young children about the correct way of selecting and installing child seats in vehicles.
The Ambulance Service is showcasing its “Help Us to Help You” and “Know the Five to Save a Life” campaigns targeting all age groups and offering them training in first aid emergency.
Qatar Red Crescent’s (QRC) stall at Darb Al-Saai, has received wide response from visitors of all groups and ages.
The stall has doctors who advise the public about disease prevention and train them in how to carry out first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). They were helped by a big group of QRC volunteers, who distributed awareness publications and gifts to the visitors, particularly the children.
QRC’s ambulance vehicles and staff continue to medically cover the celebrations area throughout the day, in coordination with the organizers through radio communication to report any case that require urgent medical intervention.
