Belmopan: Qatar has joined the Central American Integration System (SICA) as an observer from outside the region, during the preparatory convention for the SICA foreign ministers which began in the Belizean town of Placencia on Tuesday.
Qatari Ambassador to El Salvador, Abdurrahman Mohammed Al Dosari, signed the accession treaty with SICA Secretary-General Dr Victoria Marina Velasquez de Aviles in presence of all ministers of the Organization of Central American States.
Belize’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington signed the treaty as a witness.
Dr de Aviles said it was a historic moment for SICA because of its positive impact on strengthening and consolidating friendship and cooperation between Qatar and SICA member states.
