Emir on Asia tour next week
DOHA: Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will leave next week for an Asian tour that includes Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India. During the tour from March 23 to 25, the Emir will hold talks with leaders and senior officials on ways of enhancing cooperation ties and issues of common concern. A senior official in Indian embassy yesterday confirmed the visit. “The Emir will visit India next week. It will be a high-level meeting,” the official said. Deals and memorandums of understanding will be signed covering fields, including youth and sports, culture, health, exchange of information and communications and information technology, among others.
Alert over power outage at HGH
DOHA: Some areas of Hamad General Hospital (HGH) will face power outage tomorrow for a short period due to renovation works at Intensive Care Unit, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) said yesterday. The emergency department at HGH will operate as normal. Renovation will lead to expansion of bed capacity in Medical Intensive Care Unit by 33 percent and a new and larger Intensive Care Unit on the second floor of HGH to ensure more space for each critically ill patient.
