The Ambassador of Bangladesh to the State of Qatar, Ashud Ahmed, along with children cutting a cake to celebrate the 99th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Doha: The Embassy of Bangladesh celebrated the 99th Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day with festivities on March 17.
As part of the celebration, children in three age-groups participated in the drawing competition on the theme of ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ held at the Embassy.
Qatari children from Dreama joined in the drawing competition. This was part of the Mission’s efforts to let the local children know about Bangabandhu and Bangladesh alongside the Bangladeshi children.
The winners from each group were selected by a panel of judges. Bangladesh Ambassador Ashud Ahmed and his spouse Rebeka Sultana distributed prizes among the winners and token prize for all participants. The Ambassador presented Arabic translation of the book ‘Unfinished Memoire’ to two officials from the Dreama.
A video documentary on Bangabandhu was played in order for the children to know more about Bangabandhu. Finally, the children celebrated the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu through cake cutting ceremony.
On March 17, a discussion programme was also held at the Embassy in connection with celebration of the day. Special prayer (dua) was offered at the outset for the salvation of the departed souls of all martyrs, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who were martyred in 1975.
The messages from the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh were read out as a means to highlight the significance of the day as well as to disseminate the important messages from the national leaders on the occasion of 99th Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation and National Children’s Day. The Ambassador paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his great contribution to independence of Bangladesh.
He told the gathering that Father of the Nation was a great leader with simplicity of a child, He used to love children.
He underlined that the best way to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu is to acquire the qualities of Bangabandhu and contribute to the building of Sonar Bangla (golden Bangladesh), dream of Bangabandhu.
