19 Killed in bus accident in Western India

New Delhi: At least 19 people were killed in a bus accident in the western Indian state of Gujarat on Saturday.

An official in the local Indian police told United News of India that most of the victims were workers, adding that 25 people were aboard the bus, 19 of whom were killed and six wounded.

Tens of thousands of people die in traffic accidents in India every year. Official statistics show last year that some 135,000 people die in traffic accidents annually. India ranks second in the world after China in terms of the highest number of accidents. (QNA)
