Doha: Ooredoo has launched a series of charity auctions of special numbers, as part of the spirit of giving during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
As part of its Alrabaa (“Friends”) campaign during the holy month of Ramadan, which seeks to fill hearts with joy and to help those in need, Ooredoo will donate to charity the proceeds from the three online auctions.
Customers can bid for their favourite number from a new range of special numbers on the Ooredoo website at www.ooredoo.qa/en/etr. Special numbers are those that start with the same number, have many of the same numbers, or have parallel digits.
The first auction for four special numbers starts on Friday, 19 July, and will run for three days until Sunday, 21 July. The second auction for four additional numbers will be held from Monday, 22 July until Wednesday, 24 July. Any numbers that are not purchased will be offered again during a third auction from Thursday, 25 July until Saturday, 27 July.
On the Ooredoo website, customers with a valid Qatar ID can bid only for numbers marked “Auction Only”. Bidders must start at the asking price, and increase according to the minimum bid. Ooredoo customers can bid on more than one number in the auction, if they have multiple phones or if they missed out on their preferred number.
When the auction is finished, Ooredoo will contact the winning bidder by mobile, SMS and email. The winner will then have two days to complete the purchase either at the Ooredoo Shop at Lagoona Mall or through the Ooredoo eShop at www.ooredoo.qa/eshop.
Since 2005, Ooredoo has donated millions of Qatari Riyals to charity, thanks to these auctions of Easy-to-Remember numbers. The proceeds go into a general charity fund, which are then distributed to worthy charities in Qatar, or as emergency aid for in need. For more information on Ooredoo’s Alrabaa campaign, and how to donate items directly to charity through “Sharing Spheres”, customers can visit the Ramadan page on the Ooredoo website at www.ooredoo.qa/en/Ramadan, and join the social media conversation using the #alrabaa hashtag.
