Salalah: The 18th Annual Conference “Arbitration in Disputes of Capital Markets in the GCC Countries”, opened in Salalah yesterday under the patronage of Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Ali bin Mas’oud Al Sunaidi.
The three-day conference is organised by the GCC Commercial Arbitration Centre (CAC), in cooperation with the branch of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in the Governorate of Dhofar.
During the meeting, Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry Mas’oud Al Sunaidi affirmed that the GCC joint efforts achieve progress in the relevant systems and legislations aiming at stimulating investment and stabilising stock markets. He pointed out that Oman pursues a policy of openness and economic liberalisation and makes tangible progress in integrating into the global economy.
He was quoted by Oman News Agency (ONA) as explaining that the theme of this conference, represented in arbitration in disputes of capital markets in the GCC, is within the framework of the attention accorded by the Gulf countries for the stability of the stock market.
Abdullah bin Salim Al Rowas, OCCI’s Board member and Head of OCCI Branch in the Governorate of Dhofar delivered a speech during which he stressed the importance of the conference, which is annually hosted by the branch in the Governorate of Dhofar during the Khareef season for the 18th consecutive year. He highlighted the success of the conference, as well as the success of the GCC- CAC (the organising entity) in carrying out its mission.
Ahmed Al Najim, Secretary General of the GCC-CAC delivered a speech during which he expressed thanks and appreciation to Sulatanate of Oman for providing all means of success to the conference and the GCC-CAC for conducting the conference for 18 successive years. The conference aims to acquaint participants with modern methods of contracting and give participants the necessary skills.
