ISLAMABAD: Floods triggered by heavy rains in various regions of Pakistan have affected around 1.5 million people, according to a report released by the National Disaster Management.
Floods have destroyed crops spread over approximately 1.46 million acres and damaged more than 79,000 homes either totally or partially, the report said.
Federal and regional humanitarian relief agencies have distributed aid and basic necessities to flood-affected victims put up in 58,000 camps across the country.
Pakistan is ravaged by floods during the three-month long monsoon season for the last three years.
The authorities have been criticised for not doing more to mitigate against the dangers posed by seasonal rains washing away homes and farmland, a news agency report had said last month.
Floods killed around 1,800 people and displaced 21 million in 2010, the worst toll in Pakistan's history. (QNA)
