36 mock drills held in schools

DOHA: The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) organised 36 mock drills in various schools since the start of the new academic year.

Evacuation officer at GDCD Capt Khamis Salem Al Suwaidi said that there is a well-studied plan to cover the largest number of schools in the state to train students and school staff on evacuation procedures. It is also aimed at ensuring that schools in the country have safety requirements as per the civil defence procedures.

Prior to mock drills safety officers visit the school and inspects safety equipment and fire extinguishing systems and other requirements. The drill is supervised by civil defence officers in order to identify any shortcomings.
