DOHA: QF Radio 91.7 FM launches its new 2014-15 programme schedule of its English-language frequency from today.
The station presents a ‘changing-daily feast’ of varied and interesting programs featuring interviews, events, music and more programmes.
The station’s flagship morning show ‘Rise’ returns to its two-hour format from 6.30am to8.30 am, presented by popular hosts Scotty Boyes and Laura Finnerty. The show features a wide array of segments including news from Qatar Foundation, live interviews, local news, sports, music, upcoming Doha events, and exclusive content produced by students of Qatar Foundation’s partner universities.
QF Radio will be bringing back its ‘Drive Show’, a daily afternoon programme broadcast at peak travel time from 3:30pm to 4.30pm and hosted by Nabil Al Nashar. The show features a range of informative and entertaining segments to ease your stress as you deal with Doha’s rush hour traffic.
New this season is ‘The Debate Show’ which aims to give students from Hamad bin Khalifa University’s partners across Education City a forum to discuss the latest issues and topics concerning their generation, the region and the world. The show airs every Sunday, 7pm to 8pm, hosted by Hamad Al Amari.
Other programmes include Innovations, Connect, and Research Matters.
Mohammed Al Beshri, Media Centre Manager at Qatar Foundation, said that this season’s schedule offers a carefully selected bouquet of programmes directed primarily toward the country’s youth and designed to enrich their cultural journey. The programmes are filled with varied content from educational to cultural.
Al Beshri also added that the station is determined to attract as many Qatari youth as possible. A large part of the pre-season preparation has been devoted to developing in-house training courses that will provide young citizens with the fundamental knowledge needed to work in real world media environments. He feels it is critical for QF Radio to integrate the country’s next generation into the station’s team through education and valuable experience. Classes will be taught by working professionals and the courses provided cover all aspects of broadcast journalism. This combination will allow young people to gain the necessary skills to produce and present their own radio shows.
