Doha: The State of Qatar has condemned the storming by Israeli forces of Al Aqsa Mosque to prevent worshipers from entering.
The Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that the State of Qatar denounces Israeli violations against the holy sites and on the freedom of worship as well as the abuses against the Palestinian people. The Ministry also stressed Qatar’s rejection of all Israeli actions, which are likely to increase tension and instability in the region.
DOHA: Age and obesity are major risk factor for osteoarthritis. Nearly one in two people may develop symptomatic knee osteoarthritis by age 85, and two in three people who are obese may develop symptomatic knee osteoarthritis in their lifetime, according to a health expert.
At Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC)’s Rheumatology Clinic, around 15,285 people were treated in 2012 (over 14,000 have been treated yearly in 2010 and 2011). Among patients with arthritis, the most common form was osteoarthritis, a chronic condition in which the cartilage – the material that cushions the joints – breaks down, causing the bones to rub against each other. This results in stiffness, pain and loss of joint movement.
Healthy eating habits and regular physical exercise are important in arthritis prevention and treatment. Contrary to perceptions that nothing can be done about arthritis, seeking therapy and other avenues of support can improve quality of life for people living with this condition, especially elderly people, according to Dr Mohammed Hammoudeh, Senior Rheumatologist at HMC.
In recognition of World Arthritis Day, being observed globally to raise awareness about the condition, Dr Hammoudeh emphasised that seeking arthritis treatment, which may include physical therapy and/or occupational therapy, can help the elderly overcome the limitations posed by their arthritis.
