DOHA:  The Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has taken steps to support Crescent Educational Foundation (CEF), the only Islamic school in Thailand, which has 400 students from 40 different nationalities.
The decision has been taken during a recent visit to the school by Dr Fawzi Oussedik, Director of Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) and a delegation.
The delegation toured   the school, saw its modern educational facilities and instructional tools, communicated with some learners, and listened to their concerns and aspirations.
The school management appreciated the  QRC attempt to help the students overcome challenges, as well as its assistance for the disadvantaged communities everywhere. Dr  Oussedik called for more support for such schools, which he viewed as educational and civilisational enlightenment institutions that are in place to create a whole generation with great potential to contribute to national and basically economic development.
He commended the management’s efforts to improve education in the country by adopting advanced curricula and educational programmes, with a special focus on integrating Arabic and English as languages of study, to be open to all universal cultures.
CEF was established in 2008 under the slogan of ‘Knowledge Nourishes Our Lives,’ inspired by a belief in the necessity of creating a new well-educated generation that can build its nation, empowering it to cope with the major changes in the world, qualifying it for higher-education certification from internationally-recognised universities and colleges.
The school combines UK curricula with Arabic-dominated Islamic studies.
In the future, the foundation seeks to be one of the global educational institutions that provide access to modern educational resources, as well as granting more scholarships for all needy Muslim and non-Muslim communities, in light of its primary purpose of offering decent education for poor and orphaned children who are unable to pursue their education.
