Doha Modern Indian School celebrated its seventh Annual Day with a display of talent through dances, songs and skits. Spread over two evenings, the celebrations focused on social issues and highlighted the ability of music and dance to bring in harmony, which makes Earth the wonderful planet it is.
The tiny tots of kindergarten and grades 1 and 2 stole the show on the first day with their charming and graceful moves. The kindergarten students put across the message of conservation of the environment through their programme titled Earth Day Every Day. The grade 1 and 2 students also charmed the audience with their skit and dance performances. They sent across a message of enjoyment of life by imbibing values, through their presentation titled Joie De Vivre.
The second day being 12/12/12, the school had aliens visiting DMIS and capturing a young girl, who in turn promised to show them the beauty of planet Earth through dances from different parts of the world. While grades 3 to 5 mesmerised the audience by performing dances of India that culminated in a message of unity from the school choir, students of grade 6 to 11 transported the audience around the world through their fluid steps and nimble movements. The orchestra put together by students of grade 3 to 10 welcomed the gathering with a soulful rendition of Vishwashantivandanam (We pray for world peace), a fusion of Indian and Western music.
Academic achievers were honoured with certificates and prizes. Students who represented the school in the Nationals in various sports events received their awards. The Taleb Scholarships were given to the selected students.
The celebration was graced by Nehad Ahmed-Kayali, expert consultant, School Evaluation and Accreditation, SEC, on the first day.
