The festival is a unique opportunity for the youth to network and show their talents.
Doha: For the third consecutive year, The Youth Company, Qatar, (TYC) will host Run The World Festival — the country’s most anticipated youth event — from December 19 to 21.
The three-day festival is expected to welcome over 35,000 visitors.
As one of TYC’s main annual events, the festival presents an exciting opportunity for youth between 14 and 29 years to participate in sports, showcase outstanding talents, get involved in community projects and gain exposure to different cultures through competitions, talks and a global village fair.
Youth willing to participate in organising the festival will be given the chance to apply and volunteer for specified jobs.
“Through the festival, we aim at encouraging the youth to network and enhance their experiences through sports, culture and community engagement. This year, we hope to welcome more visitors,” said Mohamed Farid, Founder and Chairman of The Youth Company International.
Since its launch in 2011, the festival has had an increasing response from the community.
Last year the festival received 27,000 visitors, hosted nine events, engaged 700 volunteers, 100 performers, and 65 Youth Got Talent participants, 51 media hits, 100 photography and video submissions, and cooperation from 34 organisations.
This year’s festival comprises three installments: Talks in November on community issues with experts through forums; the festival in December, featuring some familiar events, such as the Youth Got Talent contest, sports, Parkour, graffiti design and other activities for visitors.
The festival will also have the Village — a unique fair that unites over 30 cultural groups, associations, and youth clubs exhibiting their work.
A platform will be presented for youth to initiate and develop sustainable projects through RTW Legacy, which will be presented as an open conference.
With already around 1,000 volunteer applicants and 40 interns in less than three weeks of opening application forms, this year’s festival is set to be a phenomenal success.
“What makes the festival amazing is that it is built, designed and enhanced by youth, not only those working at TYC, but also students from schools and universities, talented young workers in the industry, athletes, performing artists, and others who contribute to this fantastic event,” said Aya Abu Issa, Chief Executive Officer, TYC, Qatar.
TYC welcomes support of corporate organisations and potential sponsors, with whom it can secure bond for future youth and community projects.
These partnerships are essential for the youth of the region to expand their network and experiences, and for companies such as TYC to sustain operations to fulfil these needs.
