DOHA: Fahad bin Mohammed Al Attiya, Executive Chairman of the Qatar National Food Security Programme has been elected Governor of the World Water Council (WWC) to a three-year term. The elections were held in Marseille (France) during the first day of WWC’s sixth General Assembly.
Al Attiya will serve on the Board along with 35 other governors and represent College 2 (Governments and Governmental authorities). He will be the first individual coming from a Gulf country to serve in this institution. The World Water Council is an independent, international organisation incorporated as a French not-for-profit association. It was founded in 1996 and currently has over 400 members from over 60 different countries, including civil society organisations, financial institutions, national governments, scientific organisations, United Nations agencies, international organisations, multilateral banks, professional associations, private companies, user associations, public companies, universities and research centres.
